Join Campbell University’s School of Engineering for an Engaging Experience!

Faculty, staff, and students from the School of Engineering invite you to participate in hands-on design challenges and learn more about:

  • The Engineering Design Process
  • How Campbell prepares students to become professional engineers
  • Valuable academic techniques for success

Engineering Day is a hands-on experience designed to inspire creativity, problem-solving, and innovation. Activities are centered around the Engineering Design Process, where participants work in small teams to complete tasks using limited supplies in a friendly, competitive format. Through engaging, interactive projects, participants explore key concepts such as brainstorming, designing, testing, and iteration while building confidence and collaboration skills in a fun and supportive environment.

We’re currently finalizing this year’s activities, which will be themed around mechanical, chemical, and/or electrical engineering — so get ready for a fun and educational experience!

 

Participation Fee

A $15 participation fee is required to help cover the cost of materials and support the overall program. This ensures that each participant has access to the resources needed for a high-quality, hands-on experience.  This fee includes an Engineering Day t-shirt, project materials and supplies, etc.


Lunch Policy

Due to the Engineering Day schedule, participants are not allowed to leave to purchase lunch—no exceptions. If a participant does not wish to eat the provided lunch, they must bring their own meal. 

Refund Policy

Please note that we are unable to offer refunds since t-shirts and project supplies must be purchased well in advance to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Fees

  • What does the $15.00 fee cover?
    The fee includes a Campbell Engineering T-shirt, lunch (pizza, cookies, and water), and all materials used during the day’s activities.
  • Do parents need to pay?
    No, parents do not pay. Most Engineering Days include a brief presentation and tour of our facilities led by Campbell Engineering faculty or staff. This lasts about 60–90 minutes, and parents may stay for a shorter time if needed. There is no cost.

  • What grades are considered Middle School for this event?
    5th–8th grades
  • What grades are considered High School for this event?
    9th–12th grades
  • What is the age range for Home School students?
    10–18 years old

What Do I Do While My Child Is Participating

  • Can parents attend?
    Parents cannot attend the student activities. However, most Engineering Days include a 60–90-minute presentation and tour led by Campbell Engineering faculty or staff. Parents may stay for a shorter time if preferred.
  • Is this a drop-off event or can parents stay?
    This is a drop-off event. Parents are welcome to attend the optional 60–90 minute presentation and tour. You may also visit local cafes and shops in Buies Creek or Lillington. On campus, the Student Union and Library will be open during Engineering Days for those who wish to stay nearby.

  • Are Engineering Days located on the main campus?
    Yes, they are held on the main campus in Buies Creek, NC.
  • Where on campus is Engineering Days held?
    Typically in the Student Union, second-floor ballrooms. Specific details will be emailed before the event.

  • Are the activities the same each time?
    Activities remain consistent throughout the academic year but may change annually.
  • Will there be access to a refrigerator?                                 
    The event venue is air-conditioned, if the participant is bringing their own lunch, please pack it appropriately.
  • Can my child leave for lunch?
    For safety, all participants must remain with the group for the entire event.
  • How can a parent learn more about Campbell’s School of Engineering?

    We do not share names, ages, or other personal information on social media.
  • Is there allergy information for materials used?
    Materials vary each year. For specific allergy inquiries, contact hjones@campbell.edu.
    If your child has a food allergy and cannot eat the provided lunch, please send a packed lunch. It will be kept in an air-conditioned room until lunchtime.
  • Are Engineering Days different from school field trip visits?
    If you’re interested in a class visit, please have a school representative contact hjones@campbell.edu.
