Many tutorial videos are available on YouTube, such as this playlist by BrotherSews.
It is recommended whenever possible to hold your work in hoops designed for the machine. This provides the highest quality and more error checking to prevent damage to the machine.
Some items cannot be held in these hoops and must use Fast Frames instead. When using Fast Frames care must be taken to ensure your work is in the area of the frame so that the needle does not strike the frame and damage the machine.
Baseball Caps
Baseball caps use a special hoop. See Cap Frame Users Guide and this example video by Karin SmoothSewing

More complicated stitch patterns can be found on-line and downloaded as PES files from ibroidery.com or other sites.
Creating your own stitch patterns requires a stitch generating program like PE-Design NEXT, which is available on some of the computers in the Creek Makerspace.
